Edmund Hillary, the first man to reach the summit of Mount Everest, never would have made it without his guide. Tenzing Norgay had already saved Hillary’s life once before – when he nearly died falling into a crevasse – and his extensive experience in the treacherous landscape of the Himalayas cemented his position as Hillary’s climbing partner. Hillary ultimately stepped onto the summit first, but when the victorious men finally made it down (after a bear hug at the top), both insisted that it didn’t matter: they were a team, and the glory belonged to both of them.

History is full of famous guides like Tenzing, and grateful testimonials from the men and women who relied on them. But mountain climbing isn’t the only time you might need a guide: what about finding your way through the wilderness of health and nutrition information all around you?
