Another week has gone by and there is always loads of interesting things worth sharing amongst our Paleo community. In fact, the Paleo Diet Lifestyle team has been busy adding the finishing touches to something new and exciting. Let’s just say its been months in the making and the big reveal is coming soon!
Aside from our little project, there has been lots of other news-worthy buzz circulating. Last weekend was a big one for those who participated in the 2012 CrossFit Games. For those of you not familiar, CrossFit is a strength and conditioning workout program, using the combination of body weight and lifting programs designed specifically for you in order to promote your optimal fitness levels. It has been described as both insane and impossible, but the rewards are arguably greater than what any other form of fitness programs can provide. It was once a regime very few practised, but it has since grown to be quite popular, to the point where yearly games are organised where CrossFit champs from around the world contend to see who really is the fittest person alive. It’s a challenge of both the mind and body that only the strongest can go through. Congratulations are certainly in order for this years champs: Annie Thorisdottir takes the woman’s title for a second time, making her the first in her classification to do so, and Rich Froning is the fittest Man yet again, this also being a repeat title for him. Just the other day I came across an article titled: How do you transform a picky eater? This seems like the million dollar question for parents trying to urge their kids to eat healthier. Give the article a good read, as there are some great tips. It may just provide the answer to something you thought could never be answered. While on this topic, you may also want to try some of the healthy, yet sweet snack recipes we have shared on our Paleo recipe section. They tend to be quite popular a with kids. We recently shared a tasty Coconut Squares recipe and this Chocolate Avocado Mousse is also something to got a lot of attention.
In most recent weeks, the topic of salt has been causing more than enough controversy around the globe. What brought this about? It stems from the role political leaders have taken when it comes to the question of whether or not salt is healthy. This article published in The New York Times evaluates the political side of things and comes to the simple conclusion that there is yet to be any conclusive evidence to support that salt is in fact as detrimental to our health as we are being lead on to believe. We decided to take this issue into our own hands and we have since published a great article titled Salt and a Paleo Diet. We tend to leave the topic of politics out of it for the most part and rather look at scientific evidence to both support our claims and draw our conclusions.
P.S. Be sure to check out the Paleo Recipe Book. It’s a cookbook I’ve created to help you cook the best food for your health. It contains over 370 recipes and covers absolutely everything you need.
