If you subscribe to today’s conventional wisdom, you probably think that being healthy and fit requires a lifelong dedication to strenuous exercise, calorie counting and restrictions.

This couldn’t be further from the truth and if you try to lose weight battling against your body’s mechanisms and genetics I wish you good luck on your life of hardship and deception.

People tell me all the time that the Paleo diet is too complex to follow. I don’t really get what’s complex in eating as much as you want natural, real food, that could be found in nature and not worry about calories, vitamins, minerals, proportions or any other of those new things no animals seem to ever worry about.

Being lean, fit, strong, healthy, happy and fertile is the default way for the human body so you really shouldn’t have to “work” to attain this ideal. It will come naturally, but only under the conditions that you eat, move and sleep naturally.

I hear people bragging all the time that they do an hour and a half of stationary bicycle everyday, but yet still have problems of excess fat. They blame it on genetics and think it’s just the way they are. I, too, used to think that my constant allergies, headaches, weakness and fatigue was just the way I was meant to be. I’ve learned better!

Can you see yourself stuck in a pattern of permanent portion and food control while doing endless hours of sweaty cardio, but yet still complain of excess weight or general fatigue?

Join mother nature in her endless wisdom and eat the foods that your body is designed to eat (meat, animal fat, vegetables, fruits and nuts), move like you’re designed to move (lift heavy and run fast a few times a week intensely, but for a short time) and sleep like you’re designed to sleep (when you feel tired you sleep and you wake up without an alarm) and you’ll finally say hello to what you’ve been working towards for so long already.

How is that for a shortcut? It’s funny how complex problems in life often have a solution that’s so simple.
